Predictive Behavior Recognition Voice Stress analysis systems "listen" for tiny tremors that are produced by the vocal cords when a person is under stress.

A voice analysis does not require the person who is being analyzed to be physically present, thereby allowing analysis to be conducted covertly.

Voice alterations are so subtle that it is virtually impossible for the respondent to alter them at will and our certified Voice Stress Analysis experts rely on 16 different patterns of microtremor, a complex computer system from the Diogenes Company that analyzes this data within a fraction of a second, and an extensive knowledge of how to pose questions and perform the analysis. Each analysis can be replayed through our computer as required for examination.

Research

A three-year case study funded by the National Institute of Justice and the Air Force Research Laboratory concluded that several features of voice stress analysis can detect if a person is answering questions under stress.

Tapes from an actual murder investigation, in which the accused later confessed and were found guilty, were utilized in the study. The program director of this study concluded that when voice stress analysis programs provided by two vendors were used, the voice stress analysis was proven to be accurate on 45 out of 45 instances.

Applications of Voice Stress Analysis

Voice Stress Analysis is not admissible in a Court of Law. However, this does not decrease its usefulness as a way to focus in on specific individuals in an investigation, or as a tool used to assign importance to responses in a session of questioning. This screening technique is effective in telephone speech and previous tape recordings. Below are areas in which Voice Stress Analysis may be useful:

  • Investigation of Insurance Cases
  • Insurance Fraud
  • Witness Interviews
  • Internal Theft Investigation
  • Threat Assessments
  • Domestic Case analysis
