The Secure Conference Room Test
Are you certain?
"The Company Conference Room" is such a familiar place. But such "familiarity" can lead to complacency, making it inconceivable that someone might have
covertly entered the room and installed devices to listen in or look at the private things discussed here. "But nothing looks different!"And of course nothing will look different if a professional eavesdropper installs a covert listening device — a "bug." It is part of the professionalism that the room continues to look absolutely "normal." Fact is that despite the normality, sensitive business information can end up in the wrong hands.
Unfortunately and "thanks" to an explosion of new hi-tech ways to "listen in" — many locations may become vulnerable to eavesdropping, especially when private corporate subjects are discussed. The US government estimates that on average, $57,000 is spent annually to eavesdrop on a single corporate target. Hence, the question must be asked:
Who is listening to YOUR sensitive business conversations?
To help our clients understand how the most innocent and familiar surroundings can be compromised by miniaturized listening and video devices, we have put together a tour of one such conference room.

- The
Challenge: No
matter how "unthreatening" our Conference Room may appear,
be advised that 9 different pieces of "room equipment" have
been bugged with miniature devices. Your job is to find them.
- Instructions
for use: We have created a Virtual Tour* of a
conference room. Activating the tour will open your
QuickTime® Player and display the
room. Spin the room by using the pointer and mouse.
As the room rotates, place the pointer over different items
such
as telephones, conference equipment, wall sockets, etc. If the
pointer changes to a small hand, you have found a "bugged
location."
Click on that "Hot Spot" to go behind the scenes
and look at the hidden device
and learn how it is able to eavesdrop on your meeting.
After reading the information, hit the BACK button of your browser and return to the Conference Room. Spin the room again and look for signs of other devices. Remember, there are 9 pieces of equipment hidden where you least expect.
- The Tour: Take the tour by clicking on the following link: "Listening In"
* Note: This tour uses QuickTimePlayer technology.
A free download of this program is available at QuickTimePlayer.

any difficulty finding all nine locations, click HERE for hints.
